Basel International Community Church is an English-language, international, nondenominational, self-governing, and elder-led local congregation. As per definition, Basel International Community Church is an Association (“Verein”) according to Swiss law (Art.60 to 79, ZGB), located in Basel. The court of jurisdiction is Basel-Stadt.
PASTOR VACANCY
We seek an experienced ordained minister with a pastoral heart who will nurture and care for our congregation and work harmoniously with our church leadership team to:
– preach the word of God as given to us in the Bible
– provide soul care for the English-speaking community of Basel
– teach Bible study and theology classes
– Podcast Host to promote the Bible
ABOUT THE MINISTRY
The church began as a multi-denominational community with members from all over the world. We are composed of professionals from various sectors, musicians, retirees, young families with small children, and students.
Our activities include:
-after-worship coffee fellowship, allowing us to encourage and catch up with one another after a busy week.
-prayer meetings
-Bible study groups for men and women.
The elected Church Council meets monthly with the minister.
REQUIREMENTS
The minister should:
-be ordained by a denomination recognized by the World Council of Churches
-have a Ph.D. in Theology (preference is from the University of Basel)
-have a seminary degree
-experience as an international pastor
-must have experience as a podcast host (preference if minister already has a podcast)
-be living in Europe (preference given to those who have lived in Basel or Switzerland)
-have knowledge of the culture of Switzerland
-German language skills
Additionally, the minister must have the following:
Sound preaching skills.
A solid commitment to pastoral care.
The ability to relate to people of many nationalities, cultures, and denominations.
Experience in an international church environment.
Flexibility in working with the Church Leadership Team and engaging with the congregation and its committees.
Willingness to mentor pastoral assistants and contribute to church development.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Proficiency in German.
Basic technology skills.
Basel International Community Church provides housing (with internet), health insurance, a city bus pass, and an annual return plane flight to the pastor’s home.
Other living expenses are to be covered by the pastor.
